Hoofing it.

September 7, 2009

Did a lot of hiking today. A lot. A six mile hike, over about 4 1/2 hours (with about a half-hour break). Points-wise, that nets me about 18 activity points.

Now, I started the day with a egg & sausage sandwich, like yesterday (7 points). Had some black coffee, too.

Then I did the hike, buying me 18 points.

Then we went to a diner, where I had French onion soup (7 points), a turkey & bacon club (13 points) and fries (10 points). Throw in 4 points for mayo. It comes to 34 points, 41 with my breakfast sandwich. So, essentially, I’m 8 points into my activity points.

Sometime later tonight, I’m going to have a single-serve ice cream that Kathy bought from the supermarket. That’ll be another few points. But not the whole 10 I’ve earned.

So I figure I’m coming out ahead today.

Breakfast & Lunch

September 4, 2009

Breakfast: Egg sandwich, with cheese and ham. 9 points.

Lunch: chicken sausage sandwich on hamburger bun: 6 points. tortilla chips and salsa: 3 points.

18 points so far: 15 left to go!

For now, though, I’m gonna walk to the mechanic’s to pick up my car. Activity points? Could be…

And also.

September 3, 2009

In an effort to wring five minutes more procrastination before writing another letter for another job, I did another 20 pushups, and have now blogged about it. Hoo-ray for me.

Rob

Good, good, good.

September 2, 2009

Had a banana (2 points) before weigh-in, but really nothing else for lunch, so my results should be taken with a grain of salt. I also wore a lighter shirt than usual. Plus, I’d done a little yardwork, trimming what parts of the evergreen in our front yard that I could reach with a ladder, which might afford me an activity point if I wanted it.

This is the long way around saying that I went to my weigh-in and found that I’d lost 5.4 pounds. A good, good week for me. From the time I started going to Weight Watchers (many moons ago), it’s nearly 25 pounds. More importantly, from the time I recommited to myself and started this blog, it’s 8 pounds.

That’s the weight of this junior golf bag.

Five point FORE!

Five point FORE!

There were cooler things to pick (a remote-control helicopter came up in my image search), but I liked the golf bag because it’s something people actually lug around with them.

Now to fill it with some clubs.

Rob

I just did 20 pushups.

So that’s how much I hate looking for a job. I hadn’t realized.

Rob

(Note to self: as procrastination, pushups pretty much suck. They’re over to quick. Blogging about pushups is marginally better, though. Particularly adding a little afterthought update once I’ve posted.)

Made it work.

August 9, 2009

Sure, today’s all-you-can-eat buffet was a tricky situation. But I knew what it was going into it. I had the nova lox bagel as I planned, and restricted all my other food to just a tast of this or that. Okay, I had almost a full johnnycake (cornmeal pancake), and a whole blackberry crepe with whipped cream. (Chocolate, no. Caramel, no! A little self-restraint was involved even in that decision.) I also had a fruit cup, which was a pretty sharp move, I think.

Anyway, when all was said and done, I’d eaten an estimated 24 points worth of food — combined with the cherries, that left me 9 points for the day.

Then I walked to the movie (Funny People) most of the rest of my friends drove to, which bought me two points.

For the rest of the night, it was a little bit of hummus and tortilla chips, and then, later, a little bit of salsa and tortilla chips. I’m sure I ate 11 points’ worth — probably a little more. I’m docking myself 3 bonus points. (18 more through Wednesday.)

But the day worked out much, much better than I’d expected.
