Light lunch, good dinner, stayed within points.
September 25, 2009
Rounded out the day’s meal with a few tortilla chips and some leftover guacaomle, some bbq chicken, mashed potatoes & salad, and a piece of the applesauce cake Kathy made. And the last of the gummi sour monsters. But I had the points for ‘em!

“It wasn’t my fault I got fat in the first place. Cakes are nice, and they have them in supermarkets.” — Ricky Gervais
Well, my bonus points are gone for the week, as a result of an all-you-can-eat sushi bar Saturday night (and if you’re doing WW and you’re going to an all-you-can-eat place, sushi is by far your best bet), and D&D (with its attendant chips and pizza) on Sunday. Today I stuck to my points, though maybe not making the healthiest choices (a waffle, two slices of leftover pizza, some applesauce, and a little piece of applesauce crumb cake).
Tomorrow, I’ll eat something else. And if I’m good, I’ll tell ya about it.

Snacks and Dinner
September 18, 2009
Stayed on my points for the rest of the night: 2 servings of corn chips with salsa (6 points), chicken, salad, and corn on the cob (16 points) and a skinny cow ice cream sandwich (2 points). Plus the remaining olives earlier in the day. That makes 33!

Oh, da shame!
September 10, 2009
Well, I had a grilled cheese sandwich and some tomato soup last night. Which was delicious, and not really a problem: I had 19 points left, after all. But then, after Kathy went to bed and I finally sat down to write (it’d been a day full of news of all varieties, and I couldn’t pull myself away from the internets), I had a couple of gumdrops left over from D&D a couple weeks ago. And then a few more. And then some bite-size chocolate candies.
Now, I don’t get the sweet tooth all that often, and even last night, I was able to tamp it down before too much damage was done. But looking back at the night, I definitely ate 5 or 6 more points worth of food than I should’ve, and it was all sugar & fat. And it was probably a product of the disappointment I felt by not showing any loss at my weigh-in. Ain’t self-sabotage grand?
Oh well… today begins a new week. With new challenges, I’m sure.

Hoofing it.
September 7, 2009
Did a lot of hiking today. A lot. A six mile hike, over about 4 1/2 hours (with about a half-hour break). Points-wise, that nets me about 18 activity points.
Now, I started the day with a egg & sausage sandwich, like yesterday (7 points). Had some black coffee, too.
Then I did the hike, buying me 18 points.
Then we went to a diner, where I had French onion soup (7 points), a turkey & bacon club (13 points) and fries (10 points). Throw in 4 points for mayo. It comes to 34 points, 41 with my breakfast sandwich. So, essentially, I’m 8 points into my activity points.
Sometime later tonight, I’m going to have a single-serve ice cream that Kathy bought from the supermarket. That’ll be another few points. But not the whole 10 I’ve earned.
So I figure I’m coming out ahead today.

Last night.
September 3, 2009
After the meeting last night, I stopped at the supermarket and bought some shrimp for dinner. (Shrimp is my friend: delicious, and only 1 point for every two ounces!) Picked up some tortilla chips, black bean and corn salsa, and organic limeade, too. There were plenty of points left in my day.
So I sat down to write a little with an ounce of the chips and some salsa, plus some limeade (6 points). Then for dinner, I had Shrimp fra diavolo, with a lot of pasta for an impossible 8 points. (Part of what keeps it so lo is a local, jersey-fresh sauce we use that’s essentially all garden veggies, so no points to speak of. Not like sugary store-bought sauces.)
Then we watched the Burn Notice season finale (man I love that show) and defrosted a few Christmas cookies. Three cookies, 1 glass of milk: 8 points, give or take. I’d had nine left, so I called it a night. The new week starts today!

The Remains of the Day
September 1, 2009
Lunch: a couple of tomato sandwiches on hamburger rolls: 5 points. And some pita chips and hummus: 6 points.
Dinner: some leftover london broil and mashed potatoes, plus salad. Hopefully not more than the 13 points I had left. Dessert — a 0-point orange popsicle.

Had a great time at Sharon’s 40th at Monmouth park. Even won a little (very little) money (I came out $3 ahead). But counting points? Not so good.
There were soft pretzels and fried chicken and beer and coleslaw and wraps and cupcakes and cookies and tequila with peppers in it and a vodka-infused watermelon. And some stuff I didn’t try.
Now, I had 32 points left in the day I’d started things off with a banana), and another 31 bonus points for the week. So if I need to tonight, I’ll eat something light for a dinnersnack. And then I’ll call those bonus points a wash.
But it was a helluva good day. Happy birthday, Sharon.

Dinner.
August 30, 2009
Big dinnerĀ tonight… but not big points. I had 8 points worth of chicken (I’m being generous there), along with some grilled veggies and salad with homemade croutons, which I’m giving 3 points to total since the dressing was pretty light. So that’s 11 points of my remaining 17.
With 6 points left, I poured myself a beer (Young’s Chocolate Stout) and had some strawberries.
There’s a party tomorrow, and I’ve got 31 bonus points to play with.
‘Night.

London Broil is Falling Down
August 28, 2009
Well, I grilled up some london broil, and we roasted some beets and then put them in a sugary sauce in a dish cooks.com calls Sunshine Beets (that I calculated as 12 points total, but we divided it into 3 servings, one of which Kathy is taking to work tomorrow, so it would be 4 points for my portion — if I’d eaten a commensurate amount of the sauce, which I didn’t, so we’ll call it 3). And I had a raw bell pepper, since I was so preoccupied with the beets that I forgot to grill ‘em. The 4 ounces of London Broil was 10 points.. so 10 plus 3, plus the 2 points worth of olives I had earlier in the day, equals 15.
I had 18 points left, so I wound up with 3 remaining points after dinner. There was a chocolaty dessert that Kathy got in a 4-pack from BJ’s — just one left — and I seem to recall that each was 7 points. So I had half with a glass of milk, sharing the other half with Kathy. Boy, was it good.* Anyway, six points for that, so my running total of remaining bonus points is 33.
But I’ll be working in the city tomorrow, so we’ll see how takeout treats me. I better look for a sushi restaurant.
Rob
*The beets and the london broil were really good, too.
