Meeting, Lunch, Egg.

September 17, 2009

First of all, I went to the meeting today and I lost…

Goose-egg! Delicious goose egg!

Goose-egg! Delicious goose egg!

Goose egg.

Once again, there’s no change in my weight, up or down. And yet… I went a little earlier in the day than usual, so I might have weighed a little less because of that. But I also wore jeans to a meeting instead of shorts for the first time in a long while, so I definitely weighed a little more because of that. So it could still be a wash.

Better than a gain, anyway.

Anyway, there’s nothing–nothing!–in the house, sandwich-wise, so I made myself some chicken rotini soup — the can says it should be 4 points. So 8 points so far! 25 left to go! (I’ll probably have some chips and salsa to take care of some of that, sooner or later.)

And I’m drinking black coffee — New England Coffee is on sale at the A&P, and I bought 3 packs. Brew, my pretties! Brew!

Oh, da shame!

September 10, 2009

Well, I had a grilled cheese sandwich and some tomato soup last night. Which was delicious, and not really a problem: I had 19 points left, after all. But then, after Kathy went to bed and I finally sat down to write (it’d been a day full of news of all varieties, and I couldn’t pull myself away from the internets), I had a couple of gumdrops left over from D&D a couple weeks ago. And then a few more. And then some bite-size chocolate candies.

Now, I don’t get the sweet tooth all that often, and even last night, I was able to tamp it down before too much damage was done. But looking back at the night, I definitely ate 5 or 6 more points worth of food than I should’ve, and it was all sugar & fat. And it was probably a product of the disappointment I felt by not showing any loss at my weigh-in. Ain’t self-sabotage grand?

Oh well… today begins a new week. With new challenges, I’m sure.

Hoofing it.

September 7, 2009

Did a lot of hiking today. A lot. A six mile hike, over about 4 1/2 hours (with about a half-hour break). Points-wise, that nets me about 18 activity points.

Now, I started the day with a egg & sausage sandwich, like yesterday (7 points). Had some black coffee, too.

Then I did the hike, buying me 18 points.

Then we went to a diner, where I had French onion soup (7 points), a turkey & bacon club (13 points) and fries (10 points). Throw in 4 points for mayo. It comes to 34 points, 41 with my breakfast sandwich. So, essentially, I’m 8 points into my activity points.

Sometime later tonight, I’m going to have a single-serve ice cream that Kathy bought from the supermarket. That’ll be another few points. But not the whole 10 I’ve earned.

So I figure I’m coming out ahead today.

Rob

Oh, that went well.

August 8, 2009

So my friend Chris came to town, and he, Kathy and I went out to dinner. We went to Wild Rice, a local (and delicious) Asian fusion restaurant in town, and I had one out of the five appetizer rolls and a bowl of Monsoon Soup with seafood — an Udon soup I’m estimating at 12 points, or 14 for the meal altogether. Which left me with 6 for dessert.

Well, there’s an ice cream shop two doors down, and without knowing the points for ice cream, I went and ordered a double-scoop cone. I knew I should’ve ordered a single, but I ordered a double.

The weight watchers book says a scoop of premium ice cream is 7 points, and I had two, on a sugar cone (1 point). All told, 15 points. So it looks like I used 9 of my bonus points on tonight’s dessert. I knew I’d be dipping into them when I ordered the ice cream, but that was a little more than I’d bargained for. And if I’d ordered a single scoop, I’d only be two in the red.

Ah, well. Live and learn. Anyway, that’s it for my eating tonight. See you tomorrow.

Soup is good food.

August 7, 2009

I don’t know if I’ll be blogging every meal. I think as things go on, it’s more likely that I do a “daily intake” post like the one I kicked things off with. But so far, I’m posting when the spirit moves me, trying to keep focused on this thing.

I’ve got a friend coming to stay for a few days, and I expect we’ll be going out to dinner tonight. So it’s important I have a light lunch, but a filling one. I don’t want to overeat at dinner, but whatever I get isn’t likely to be as controlled as what I make at home.

So, more spinach lentil soup for me. 2 points a bowl. I’m having one now, before I go to the supermarket; if I’d gone without eating, I’d've brought back something I shouldn’t have… or at least looked longingly at foot-long hoagies. And that’s just pathetic.

(Had a glass of iced tea, too — unsweetened, so no points.)

Lunch, Day One

August 6, 2009

Just had some strawberries and plain lowfat yogurt, and after a glass of water, I’m back to iced black coffee. More water later. That’s four more points, so 12 so far today. I’ve got 22 to go.

Oh, I do want cheese. Maybe in a little while.

Rob
P.S. Ooh! I forgot that we have some leftover lentil & spinach soup in the basement fridge! I’m gonna be on that like something on something else that the first thing is on.
