My Weight Loss in Fish

October 1, 2009

So yesterday, I went to my meeting and discovered I’d lost 3.4 pounds.

That’s this Kentucky Bass. And it was catch-and-release, so he could still be swimming around out there.

3.4 pounds. But it's fish, so it's the good fat.

Booyah!

I let myself down yesterday.

September 23, 2009

So I went to a meeting yesterday since I knew I’d have to miss the meeting today, and damned if I hadn’t gained a little weight. Just a tough: 0.4 pounds. Which could have been explined by me wearing a belt, or the fact that I had gained 0.4 pounds. Like this Y-cable.

Y-cable: 0.4 pounds

Y-cable: 0.4 pounds

Anyway, that happens. But I’ve really got to control my reactions to the news. I ate a light lunch, but somewhere in mid-evening, I tucked into some sour gummi candies we were using as monsters at D&D on Sunday. Then, after dinner (chicken fajitas, with weight watchers cheese), I ate a couple choclats and some cookies as well.

I gotta react better to disappointment.

Oh well, as of this morning it’s a new week.

Meeting, Lunch, Egg.

September 17, 2009

First of all, I went to the meeting today and I lost…

Goose-egg! Delicious goose egg!

Goose-egg! Delicious goose egg!

Goose egg.

Once again, there’s no change in my weight, up or down. And yet… I went a little earlier in the day than usual, so I might have weighed a little less because of that. But I also wore jeans to a meeting instead of shorts for the first time in a long while, so I definitely weighed a little more because of that. So it could still be a wash.

Better than a gain, anyway.

Anyway, there’s nothing–nothing!–in the house, sandwich-wise, so I made myself some chicken rotini soup — the can says it should be 4 points. So 8 points so far! 25 left to go! (I’ll probably have some chips and salsa to take care of some of that, sooner or later.)

And I’m drinking black coffee — New England Coffee is on sale at the A&P, and I bought 3 packs. Brew, my pretties! Brew!

Rob

Not up, not down.

September 9, 2009

Went to my meeting, and was met with no change at the scale at all. Which is better than up, but not quite as good as down.

Had lunch afterward: a little sushi (4 points), a glass of limeade (2 points) and a sample red velvet bar they gave me at the meeting: 1 point. It was pretty good, too.

So that’s that. I’m 14 points into the day. Dinner’s coming up next.

Rob

Good, good, good.

September 2, 2009

Had a banana (2 points) before weigh-in, but really nothing else for lunch, so my results should be taken with a grain of salt. I also wore a lighter shirt than usual. Plus, I’d done a little yardwork, trimming what parts of the evergreen in our front yard that I could reach with a ladder, which might afford me an activity point if I wanted it.

This is the long way around saying that I went to my weigh-in and found that I’d lost 5.4 pounds. A good, good week for me. From the time I started going to Weight Watchers (many moons ago), it’s nearly 25 pounds. More importantly, from the time I recommited to myself and started this blog, it’s 8 pounds.

That’s the weight of this junior golf bag.

Five point FORE!

Five point FORE!

There were cooler things to pick (a remote-control helicopter came up in my image search), but I liked the golf bag because it’s something people actually lug around with them.

Now to fill it with some clubs.

Rob

So I went to my weigh-in, and what did I see?
0.8 pounds had slid offa me!

That’s approximately the weight of Sopranos, Season 3, according to some guy on ebay.

I only made it halfway through season 1...

In celebration, I’m trying something new. Normally I like to have a tomato sandwich now and then — lowfat mayo, two pieces a’ bread, pepper… 4 points, total. But today, i just sliced the tomato, put a little olive oil and basil on it, and am eating it right now. One point, baby, and it’s delicious.

So, I went to weigh in at my five o’clock meeting, and,no surprise, I put on some weight in this last week of beer and dogs and burgers and beer and beer. 2.8 pounds, to be precise, represented by this Nemo Nano Elite tent. That’s okay, I knew I’d be going up this week. I’m just glad I didn’t surpass last week’s loss.
The Nemo Nano Elite tent is IN MAH BELLY!
Anyway, for lunch I had a ham sandwich (11 points), and I followed it up with some grapes (2 points) when I got back from my meeting. So, all told, that’s 18 points for today. I’ve got 16 more to spend at dinner.

(By the way, I’ve decided that the 4 points I spent yesterday are going into this weeks’ bonus points allotment. So I’ve got 31 more if need be. Considering I’ve got a party to go to tomorrow and D&D games on Sunday and Monday, the need will definitely be.)

Rob

Ulp.

August 12, 2009

Just ate another ham sandwich like the one I had a few days ago (11 points), and then had some Oreos after that (5 points). So that’s 27 points of my day, right there.

And I’ve got tortelini planned for dinner. Hmm…

On the plus side, tracking through blogging has been paying off. I weighed in at my meeting today, and I’m down to 228.0 pounds — a loss of 4.6 pounds, or this Hilleberg Soulu tent. Since I’m going camping starting tomorrow, that’s how we’ll measure it.

I dropped the weight of a Hilleberg Soulo in one week!

Tent, pitched.

4.6 pounds…. and I’ve got a long weekend to screw it all up. But for once, I actually bought some light beer. That’s something, at least.

Rob

Take a load off.

August 5, 2009

It’s not easily done.
My chances are a million to one.
Oh, no… oh no.
I’m talking about… I’m talking about weight that can’t be carried.

— The Heavy Blinkers

Here’s the blog where I double down on my weight loss efforts. My chances are a hell of a lot better than a million to one, but I have to acknowedge that my efforts haven’t been up to snuff for the past year or so. I’m just not devoting enough attention to it. I’m thinking about it once a week — if that — instead of every day. And I need to lose this weight, I really do. Because I want to live to a ripe old age, and I want to be happy when I get there.

So starting today, I’m going to keep a daily diary of just what I eat, and any other pertinent factors in weight loss. Plus, I’m using this opportunity to teach myself WordPress in the process, just because.

So far today — it’s something of a last hurrah, although god knows I’ve had plenty of them — I’ve had:

  • Two cups of coffee
  • A BostonMarket country fried chicken sandwich
  • a serving of mashed potatoes
  • Two cups (20 oz) of white ice tea — sweetened, I’m pretty sure.
  • Some smoked gouda cheese and crackers (which I continue to have; tomorrow I’ll be more exact about portions)
  • And tonight I’ll be having a grilled swordfish steak in Soy Vey teriyaki sauce, along with a couple ears of corn on the cob (buttered and salted). I might have some cooked mushrooms with it, or I might hold those off until tomorrow.
  • I’ll probably wash that down with a glass or two of iced tea. Decaffienated, coz my sweetie likes it that way.

Anyway, the other thing I do on Wednesdays (usually Wednesday) is to go to my Weight Watchers meeting and weigh in. When I started Weight Watchers, I was 249.0 pounds. I’d gotten down to around 219 pounds. I now, today, weighed in at 232.6.

Get a good look at that number. You won’t be seeing it again.
